Today we were screening all morning long and into the afternoon and we went to a primary school in Fagalii and I absolutely felt sincere love for those children. I was listening to the hearts that day and it was amazing to watch as I could see the children's eyes light up as we came and saw them. This was a humbling experience because in that moment I realized how much I have been given, and how I need to use what I have been given in order to benefit others. This is the true reason why I want to go into the field of medicine because each of us are a product of everyone around us. What I mean by this is that success is obtained by an individual it is accumulated by the help and experiences he or she gains from those around them. The beauty of this is that I realized that I was called to help the Samoan people for as long as I am able, before I thought when I returned home from my mission that I had finished my work. Little did I know that it was just the beginning, I have the privileged to continue to help the people I love by serving them in any capacity possible. Below there is a picture of Mitch and I, Mitch is one of my very good friends. We have grown up together, went to Elementary, Jr. High, High School and now college together. As we took that picture we said that is one picture we want to frame one day because it captures how our friendship helps in the progression of our goals to become physicians one day.
